Respite Care

Caring for an elderly or disabled family member can be extremely rewarding – yet at times, both physically and emotionally challenging. Our respite care service is ideal for those needing a short break either to recharge their batteries or to make necessary adaptations at home to improve the comfort of their loved one.

At Amica Care we welcome residents for respite from anywhere between one to six weeks depending on individual needs. During this time we strive to make their stay with us as comfortable and fulfilling as possible – with wonderful opportunities for socialisation in our spacious lounges, interactive activities and peaceful garden strolls.

We also offer convalescence for those recovering from a period in hospital but needing more support than can be provided at home. This is an excellent way to smooth the transition of recovery, with peace of mind for your family that necessary medical assistance and compassionate care will be on hand 24 hours a day.

Having respite is so crucial for carers who are in need of a rest from their hands-on daily routine. We find that this allows family members to reset and return to their carer role with renewed energy. What’s more, a short break can be an invigorating change for your loved one who will benefit from a change of scenery, as well as social interaction and the numerous activities on offer.

We offer respite at our care homes in Exmouth, Crewkerne, Bromsgrove and Dorchester – all of which offer 24-hour personalised care, special diets and a kind, compassionate environment. At Amica Care we fully understand that the decision to reach out for respite can sometimes be hard. Because of this, we welcome your relative to come and stay with us for a day – at no cost – to allow them to experience all that is on offer and ease their transition for a longer break.
