Exmouth House receives GSF award for end-of-life care
Exmouth House Care Home in Exmouth, Devon has been awarded a national Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Quality Hallmark Award for end-of-life care.
The 31-bed care home provides specialist residential care for people with dementia and those who require end-of-life care.
The Gold Standards Framework (GSF) is an evidence-based, systematic approach to formalising best practice through improving the organisation and coordination of care for people nearing end of life.
Kerry Hunt, Operations Manager at Amica Care Trust, said: “I am proud of our team at Exmouth House for achieving their GSF accreditation and for all of the hard work they put into providing dignified end-of-life care for our residents. We do all we can to ensure the family is looked after as well as their relative who is receiving end-of-life care.”
To qualify for the GSF Quality Hallmark Award, Exmouth House undertook an extensive GSF training programme over more than twelve months, then embedded this into the home over several months. The final stage was a rigorous accreditation process.
Kat Langdon, Home Manager at Exmouth House said: “GSF accreditation is all about delivering compassionate and ethical care for our residents nearing end-of-life. You only have one chance to get end of life care right, so this accreditation is a great reassurance for the families of our residents and reflects the genuine dedication of my team.”
The award was given as part of the Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Awards on 7 October 2022.
