Celebrating Care Home Open Week 2024
What an extraordinary week we've had during Care Home Open Week 2024! Seeing our communities come together, share joyous moments, and engage in enriching activities has been an absolute delight.
Exmouth House was buzzing with excitement throughout the week. Activities included:
- Quiz Night: Residents showcased their knowledge and enjoyed a lively quiz session.
- Arts and Crafts with Belle from Creative Arts: Creativity was in full swing as residents explored their artistic talents.
- Games and Singing with Withycombe School: The young students brought energy and joy, filling our home with laughter and music.
- Hawaiian Garden Party: The highlight of the week, where residents and staff donned Hawaiian attire, enjoyed themed snacks, and celebrated in a beautifully decorated garden.

At Ernstell House, we embraced the elegance of a classic British tradition:
- High Tea Afternoon: Residents and guests savoured delicious teas, pastries, and good company, making for a truly delightful and relaxing experience.

Signature House partnered with a notable charity to host a special event:
- Afternoon Tea with Alzheimer’s Society: This gathering provided a wonderful opportunity to support and engage with the Alzheimer's Society, fostering awareness and community spirit.

St John's Court was a hub of innovation and intergenerational fun:
- Gratitude for Care: We expressed our deep appreciation for the dedication of our caregivers.
- Dementia Awareness Training Workshop: Open to relatives, the public, and staff, this workshop was crucial in educating and spreading awareness about dementia care.
- Intergenerational Sports Day: Partnering with Little Hands Day Nursery, we enjoyed a fun-filled day of sports, bridging the gap between generations.
- Innovations in Care Open Day: Our state-of-the-art technology was on full display, with interactive presentations showing how modern advancements are enhancing the quality of life for our residents.
- Buttercup Walks Annual Picnic in the Park: Residents enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors with a scenic picnic, fostering a sense of community.

The Orchards provided a vibrant array of activities:
- Arts and Crafts: Creativity flowed as residents participated in various craft projects.
- Cheese and Wine Tasting: A gourmet experience where residents sampled delicious cheeses and wines.
- BBQ and Pirate-Themed Film in the Garden: A fun-filled evening with great food and entertainment.
- Picnic in the Field with Jigsaw Nursery: A lovely picnic that brought together different generations for a day of fun and connection.
- ABBA Tribute by Jan: The timeless tunes of ABBA had everyone singing and dancing.
- Coffee Morning and Quiz: A cosy morning filled with stimulating conversation and trivia.
- Scones and Cream Tea: A quintessentially British afternoon treat that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

As we reflect on the success and joy of Care Home Open Week 2024, we are filled with gratitude for the participation and support of our residents, their families, our staff, and the wider community. This week has once again highlighted the strength of our community and the importance of coming together to celebrate and support one another.
